30 Day Attitude of Gratitude Challenge

We just finished a holiday weekend here in the United States.  Thanksgiving… turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, apple and pumpkin pie and the list goes on and on.  More importantly than the menu is the meaning behind the holiday.  The time to reflect and truly appreciate that for which we are grateful and thankful for.Unfortunately, many people need the holiday reminder to identify those things that we are grateful and thankful for.  But my question for you is, why don’t you practice this attitude of gratitude on a regular basis?  What would happen if you shifted your focus to all that you are grateful for?

Here’s a simple exercise for you to assist you with this 30 Day Attitude of Gratitude Challenge.

Now are you up for the challenge?  Absolutely!!  I can’t wait to hear how things shift for you in the next 30 days!

Is Your Adult Mindset Holding You Back?

I came across this video that I shot last winter and realized that I never posted it.  It was a great reminder to me that the end of the year is drawing near and yet we may or may not have reached out goals.  This question entered my mind…”Is your adult mindset holding you back?

Imagine if you spent the next few days with the mindset of a child.  A child that is care free….A child that practices determination, persistence, and the “I am not quitting” attitude.  A child that has no fear….A child that does not let the distractions of everyday interfere with what he/she wants..

Just imagine…

The Only Thing Constant Is Change

Yesterday,  I watched our dear neighbors, Ron and Marty, begin a new chapter in their life and I couldn’t be more excited for them.  The moving truck pulled up early and began the final sentences of their current chapter.  A few months ago, they had found a home on a beautiful lake…something they had always dreamed of having.  While the transition into this new place wasn’t exactly “smooth sailing”, they kept the faith and belief that if it was meant to be, it will be.

Of course I was sad and teary to say goodbye to them because they were such wonderful neighbors.  How grateful I am for the years they spent next door.  At the same time, Ron and Marty’s situation was a good reminder to me that the only thing truly constant in life is change.  They had a dream to live on a lake someday.  While they may not have known the how, when, and where, they knew the what.  They knew their dream.  And the only way to get to their dream was to make a change.  Without a doubt, it was scary and uncertain at times and it still may be for a little while, but again their faith and belief will supercede everything else.

So this brings me to my new chapter of change that I am super excited about…my new blog.  Like Ron and Marty, I didn’t know (and still don’t at times) the how, when, where, but I focused on the what and the rest fell into place.  New chapters are like new seasons.  They are refreshing, uplifting, and inspiring, but they can also be frightening, scary and full of uncertainty.  A new chapter is about change and the great thing is we get to pick how we want to feel about the change.

What new chapter are you willing to start in your life?  If change is the only thing constant, why do we resist it?  What would it be like if we embraced it?  What if you looked beyond the fear and uncertainty and expected the end result to be your dream?  I invite you today to write down the ‘what’ of your next chapter.  Forget the how, when , and where.  Just focus on the what.  It’s the first of the month, expect great things to happen to you over the course of the next 30, 60, 90 days.

Remember, the only thing constant in life is change….

Soar Into Your Greatness!

Winners Stay In The Game To Soar

There is something absolutely unique about someone that classifies himself as a winner.  Winners have that edge to them…that competitive flair.  It doesn’t have to be an athletic endeavor, but I will use that analogy in this post.

Winners require discipline on a consistent basis.  The discipline comes from the mindset of “I won’t be denied”.  Winners have habits…good habits, daily habits that lead them to the outcome they are seeking.

A few weeks ago, I ran my first half-marathon.  That was one of my biggest accomplishments of my life.  I was among 8,000 winners.  None of the athletes finished half heartedly.  We gave our all.  Yet for me, it all began 3 1/2 months earlier…

It began with a big dose of discipline.  It began with a habitual, regimented daily plan.  If I was going to succeed, it was up to me.  There were days that I certainly did not want to go out in the cold and run, but guess what?  I did it anyway.  There were days of hills and speed workouts…they were not at the top of my “favorites”, but I did it anyway.  Why you might ask?  Because winners stay in the game. Period.

You can not get to where you want to go in life without the discipline of daily habits.  You will not soar to the top in mediocrity.  Every person has that edge inside, but first you must decide that you won’t be denied.  Stay in the game and experience the feeling of accomplishment as you cross the finish line.  You are a winner!  You can SOAR!

I Dare You To Soar!

Dare You To Soar Through Resistance

Resistance…good ‘ole Webster Dictionary sums up resistance as opposition.  Opposition is something that we don’t like in our life and we try, at all costs, to avoid it.  Many people perceive resistance as this giant in their life.  The giant of opposition.

We all have the ability within us to face that giant head on.  We absolutely can defeat the giant!  The best way to bring the giant down is to not call attention to it.  What exactly do I mean by this?

If you are always focused on the resistance in your life, the giant will continue to gain strength and will bring more resistance into your life.  What ever is at the forefront of your mind is exactly what comes to fruition.  If you want to weaken the giant, your focus must be on what you want and where you are going to.  If you do not fuel the giant, there is no way it can gain or muster the strength that it needs to defeat you.  You are the conqueror!!

That being said, it is not what you are going through it is what you are going to.  If you are experiencing resistance in your life, just keep on going through it.  Don’t stop to give the giant some additional energy.  Just pass it by and focus on your end results.  In the end, your focus on what you are going to will deplete the giant and you will have one the battle!

Go out there and conquer your giant today! You are amazing!

I Dare You To Soar!

Accept That You Are Enough

Have you ever had those times, situations, moments where you’ve asked yourself why me?  It is easy to fall into that “pity party” especially when you pour energy and valuable time into the task.

Well guess what…that’s what happened to me and this blog a few for the last eight weeks!  This blog has definitely been a W.I.P for me (work in progress).  However, there have been many times throughout the course of this progression, that I have been overwhelmed and down right FRUSTRATED!!!  Hey, I’m no technological guru by any means and quite frankly, at times, it is a foreign language that I don’t speak!!

Here is the mistake I made.  I tried taking this blog from A-Z without going from A to B, then B to C and C to D.  You get my point.   I created goals that were so big that I became easily frustrated when I ran into even the slightest technical issues and had equipment malfunctions and meltdowns.

So when I took a step back and reflected at what was happening, it became very clear.  I was creating all this chaos myself.  I was so focused on what wasn’t happening and that was all negative.  Never once did I express gratitude for what I had learned and how far I had come.  I was too focused on it not being enough.  By simply shifting my mindset and expressing that gratitude (even in my frustrating moments), everything began to turn around and I was able to solve those “gliches”.  Now look where I am, back to my functioning blog with functioning equipment!!! Ya Baby!

I share this with you because this situation brings me to accepting yourself as enough.  To be completely transparent, it has been a journey to realize that I am enough.  Maybe you can relate to this.  The competitor in me has challenged myself to be at the top in everything I do.  It has taken me a long time to realize that I don’t have to be “The Best”, just do “My Best”.  My Best is absolutely enough. Your best is enough too.

Here’s my quick video…I call it Mindset in a Minute.  It only takes a minute to start shifting your thoughts and beliefs.

I want you to leave this blog today with the affirmation, “I am enough.”  Repeat that periodically throughout your day in the days to come.  Your thoughts become words.  Your words are at the forefront of your mind.  Why not place good thoughts there?  Remember, a it only takes a minute!

Live Inspired,

Keep Climbing

“Doubt makes the mountain which faith can move.” ~Proverb

climb Our life is filled with mountains that we encounter.  Mountains can be in many forms such as new experiences, something unpleasant, people, and a loss just to name a few.

Mountains appear to be to be so GIGANTIC that they become intimidating.  Yet, consider this.  The mountain you are facing can absolutely be climbed.  You must realize that you do not have to sprint up the mountain.  In addition, take some breaks along the way when you need them.

Yes, it can be a struggle and frustrating if you let it be.  Have you considered just accepting the mountain and just let it be?  Accept the fact that there will always be mountains to climb.  At the same time, stay present to the fact that some of those mountains are not even here yet to worry about.  Stop wasting your energy on it and just be…

Keep your perspective in check and don’t give up.  Your climbs are not going to be perfect.  Accept that.  Remember perfection is overrated.  You don’t have to be the BEST climber, just be the BEST YOU CAN BE.  If you did your best that is enough!  Accept that!

Keep the faith in yourself and believe in yourself.  The amount of faith is extremely small.  This comes from the bible:

“Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

You can climb your mountain and move your mountain…keep the faith!!

Find It, Embrace It, Be It, Live It,

P.S.  A little inspiration with the lyrics…”It’s the Climb” by Mylee Cyrus.

I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there’s a voice inside my head saying
“You’ll never reach it”

Every step I’m taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I’m not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m gonna remember most, yeah

Just gotta keep going
And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

‘Cause there’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb, yeah!

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody’s gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It’s all about, it’s all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

It’s Your Life…

It’s my life.  What exactly does that mean to you?  Now seriously meditate on it for a few moments.  You encounter a variety of circumstances on a variety of levels.  Some are negative while some are positive.  How do you handle each of those situations? Remember, it’s your life…

I have found on my journey that my highs can’t be too high and my lows can’t be too low.  I must live in a state of peacefulness and reconnect with that state when I encounter a circumstance that throws me off.  Does this mean that I don’t celebrate the highs?  Of course not!  I celebrate them, but then I get myself back on track. It also means that I don’t let the lows consume me.  Again, I deal with the situation as quickly and efficiently as possible and head back into that peacefulness. Continue reading

What Is Your Attitude of Gratitude?

nothing November…yes the month that our moments of gratitude kick in. The month that we recognize how thankful we are for the gifts and blessings in our life. The month that we give thanks. Is that the only time we should be recognizing things that we are grateful for? Absolutely not!

Each day we should be recognizing things in our life that we are grateful for.  Whether you begin or end your day meditating on gratefulness, it doesn’t matter.  What matters is that you give thanks for what you receive. I have an attitude of gratitude notebook.  Each night, I add 10 acts of gratitude that happened to me throughout Continue reading
